What is it like to see a film on an IMAX Giant Screen?

ONLY PEOPLE WHO are aware of the various forms of IMAX theatres please:

[i am not aware of the nuances, but most people on here assume that everything IMAX=3D]

would it be worth it to attend any film in a Giant Screen theatre? Is it similar to the omnimax experience? do you still feel like you're in the movie and all that jazz, 'cept it doesn't totally fill your filed of vision?

I'm interested in attending I Am Legend at the Mall of Georgia, and would like to figure out if I should just go with the normal ticket (i have a $20 gift card, but with two people it would still be $8 more)

To me, unless the movie has a rocking soundtrack (The standard sound setup is 12000 watts), I don't get anything extra out of seeing an IMAX DMR presentation unless I know its going to have good action, visuals and FX.

The omnimax is kind of the top of the heap as far as giant screen formats go. With a regular IMAX screen, if you sit decently close enough to where it takes up most of your front field of vision, it'll be like you describe. If you sit further back, you get further removed from that perspective. But that also depends on how far back they start the seating from the screen.

Oustanding in my opinion - well worth it.
Its a clearer picture with a better sound system. It is on a big screen
