A show that will bring people in to audition?

My mom and I started a theatre company last year. First we did "Joseph" and got a decent turn out. We had auditions for "Fame" but only got about 6 people so the show wasn't possible to do. We are brainstorming on what kind of musical we can do that would bring in a decent number to auditions and sell tickets. The key crowd we're aiming at is 16-25 year olds. Thanks!

A show that will bring people in to audition?classical music

Big casts:

"Bye Bye Birdie" - good for older teens

"Seussical"

"Once upon a mattress"

"A Funny Thing Happened..."

"Anything Goes"

"Urinetown"

"42nd street"

Smaller casts:

"I love you, you're perfect, now change"

"You're a good man, charlie brown"

"Into the Woods"

... if the show is more well known but not excessively overdone, more people will probably try out. these are just some shows i like

Well, there's always "Grease"

"West Side Story" seems to draw them in - although you have to have enough male dancers for it.

"Pippin" is fun

"Aquarius" could work or bomb

"A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum" may not be well-known to your generation, but it would be known to the ticket-buyers (aka: the kids' parents and grandparents).

There are also "cabaret" type musicals that people love. Smokey Joe's Cafe, Beehive, Some Enchanted Evening...
Oliver Twist?

I dunno, the ones i would have thought of were already said
I agree with everything BroadwayStar already said.

But I'd like to add "High School Musical". Simply because my school is holding auditions for it next week. Usually, we only get the "theatre" kids (myself included) to sign up for auditions. This show, however, we have althletes, poms girls, band kids, absolutely anyone and everyone signing up. We've actually run out of audition slots and there's still supposed to be time for people to sign up- the director has to add more slots! And we'll probably sell out more shows than we ever had before, which will help us out with budgets for future shows.

HSM will help you draw in actors AND help you sell tickets to get a bigger budget for future productions.
"Once Upon A Mattress"

"Suessical"

"Annie"

"Grease"

"Little Shop of Horrors"

"Bye Bye Birdie"

"Oklahoma"

"The Wizard of Oz"

"Les Miserables"

"The Phantom of the Opera"
