Double-dating on a second date?

so after a while this wonderful girl and i went on our first date. took her to dinner, royally embarrassed myself ice skating but we were both pretty bad so we held hands and had so much fun. it's time for a second date. i've been looking for poetry readings, the theatre, anything interesting to her. she loves literature, art, poetry, music (not hardcore rock like ME!) and i love her for it. i was hopin for anything. my friend calls me, a little lonely, and asks if i want to double date with him and his long-term girlfriend. there's nothing else to do, so he suggests hitting the movies and dinner (which i think is really unoriginal). i'd love to do something cool but it's for saturday night in scranton pa. sure, chicago's playing at the theatre but it's at least $30 a ticket, a little pricey for us. first of all, should we double date on a second date? if so, anybody know the area - what can we do besides the dinner/movie date? museums are closed, i don't know any local bands. Help!

You shouldn't force her to double date, or even tell her that your friends want to. I would ask her,"hey, would you be interested in a double date with my good friend, and his girlfriend?" If she sounds ackward at all, I would can it. If she says "....Yes."With hesitation, tell her okay! Than later do the same thing you were going to do, and say they couldn't make it.NO MATTER WHAT YOU DECIDE TO DO, DO IT WITH A SMILE, AND HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!=]

Umm, double dating doesn't sound bad but if you're looking for a place to go...maybe have her suggest her fave place?
I think it is ok to double date if she has met your friends before (or better yet if she already knows them well) thats fine.

If you wanted to go on a date during the day you could take her to a park and have lunch or bbq (show her your cooking skills) go for a walk in the botanical gardens (if there are any nearby) or maybe dinner but no movie....

The best way to surprise her is to use your imagination!
