Math question.?

"A movie theatre charges $7.50 for adults and $4.50 for children. The receipts for one showing of a movie were $540. If 80 tickets were sold, find how many tickets of each type were sold."

I'm just checking my answers here... do you know the answer? Please show me how you got to your answer. :)

Math question.?violin

adult tickets, variable = 'a'

child tickets, variable = 'c'

You know two things: the total amount sold

$7.50 a + $4.50 c = $540

and the total number of tickets

a + c = 80

Solve the second equation for one of the variables. Let's do a, so a = 80 - c

plug a = 80 - c back into the first equation,

7.5 (80 - c) + 4.5 c = 540

(7.5 x 80) - 7.5 c + 4.5 c = 540

600 - 3 c = 540

600 - 540 = 3c (subtracted 540 and 3c from each side)

3c = 60

c = 20 (20 children's tickets)

plug c back into the second equation to find out how many adult tickets

a + c = 80

a = 80 - c

a = 80 - 20

a = 60 (60 adult tickets)

Double check, does 60 x 7.5 and 20 x 4.5 add up to 540?

450 + 90 = 540

Yee Haw. 60 adult tickets and 20 child tickets.

(If you need to solve for two variables, you need to have two equations. Solve for one variable using the first equation, then plug the result of that back into the second and you have your solution.)

Math question.?chinese theater opera theater

You have 2 equations from the word problem:

7.50x + 4.50y = 540

x + y = 80

Isolate x:

x = 80 - y

Sub in x value for first equation:

7.5(80-y) + 4.50y = 540

600 - 7.5y + 4.5y = 540

-3y = -60

y = 20

Sub y back into 2nd equation to get x:

x + 20 = 80

x = 60

Now you have the answer:

20 children, 60 adult
7.5 * X + 4.50 * (80 - x) = 540

7.5X + 360 - 4.5X = 540

3X = 180

X = 60

80 - (60) = 20

So they bought 60 adult tickets at $7.50 and 20 child tickets at $4.50
7.5 * X + 4.50 * (80 - x) = 540

7.5X + 360 - 4.5X = 540

3X = 180

X = 60

80 - (60) = 20

simple
X+Y=80

7.5X+4.5Y=540

if X+Y=80 then Y=-X+80

Plug in the equation for Y

7.5X+4.5(-X+80)=540

Distibute 4.5

7.5X-4.5X+360=540

Subtract 360 and combine the variables.

3X=180

Divide by 3

X=60

Plug X into the first equation

X+Y=80

60+Y=80

Subtract 60

Y=20

So, your final answer is that 60 adult ticks and 20 children's tickets were sold

Are there any bad seats at the Civic Auditorium in San Diego?

Me and girlfried are going to a concert there on the 16, but we got the tickets late, so our seats arent great. Are there any bad seats in the theatre? We are on the third teir. (total seats about 3,000) please help!

Are there any bad seats at the Civic Auditorium in San Diego?sunshine

Sorry but I think the top tier is terrible for anything there. The sound is poor and visibility is very limited. It can also be hot up there. I saw Cats from the top tier years ago and never got to see the costumes which are suppose to be a big deal...they were just too far away to see.

If you find you can't stand the seats you might wait a bit and see if you can go to the standing room only area at the very back of the bottom floor, where the sound is really good. There's like a little wall where you can stand and for some reason the sound is better there than the rows in front of the wall.

It's nosebleed and you're looking down but it's not that bad for concerts.

What should I do about my fellow female work colleague?

We are both secretaries (both of us are women) and mentioned that I like going to the theatre. She then said she'd like to go sometime and I said OK. I printed out from lastminute.com the kind of shows that are around now and said I usually pay over the internet for tickets. I said we'll go in a few weeks' time, as I'll be on holiday. I've now come back from holiday and there's no mention of a night out at the theatre. I really get sick of chasing after people (I've had this all my life - though of course she doesn't know this, as I've only known her a few months). Shall I let her mention about our night out or should I?

What should I do about my fellow female work colleague?musicals

why bother with her at all? surely you can find another friend who will go with you, who will not mess you about like that. actions speak louder than words, and i dont think your work mate is really that interested. all talk, and nothing else!

What should I do about my fellow female work colleague?opera songs opera theaterhope you enjoy theatre night out. Report It

sounds like you have issues. its always me, me, me, me with you. have you thought that maybe she likes the theater but not with you
Of course you should. And forget about your past experiences; just tell her that you want to know how she wants to do it blah blah.... Make it to be a very normal question. Don't let your past ruin your new scheme.
yes!! just say to her the tickets have arrived for the show and you are really looking forward to it. she may have completely forgotten about. good luck and have fun at the show!
Give it a mention and see what her reaction is. Some people are just like that - don't take offence and keep organising.
heck bye the tickets and ask around the office.. then she might get the hint.

or it could be she was only being nice and really does not want to go with you.... and she is hoping you forgot.
Be brave and just talk to her! You said its been this way all your life, the reason for that is - you let it happen. I'm really not having a go - this used to happen to me, you've just got to realise yourself and not be afraid to say things in an assertive and positive manner. What's the worst that can happen? Don't worry, go for it.
choose the show that you would like to see, then go up to her and tell her that you are going to see this show, and if she would like to come to on your chosen date and time. If she cannot come, leave it at that. She can always come to ask you herself if she wants to.
you should she might be pre occupied and have forgotten, give her a chance
If you still want to go with her then yes mention it. She maybe thinks that if you are the one to buy the tickets, then the ball is in your court %26amp; shes waiting for you to mention it again. You don't need to chase after her, just mention the night out %26amp; see what her response is - if she is positive about it then set a date %26amp; book the tickets.
just the once, tell her you intend to go and ask if she is still interested, I am always in the same boat as you but it's people like us that keep the world spinning!! if she wants to go then get the money up front. I have spent all this year being stubborn, trying to stop myself from organising other peoples social lives, it was my new year resolution, you know what happened? my so called friends moved on to others and still have a social life whilst I am left feeling like billy no mates!! still, I feel better now I got my head around it, I am ruthless now and don't give time wasters a second chance!!
I would mention it to her again - if you do want to go to the theatre with her - after all if she's had a busy time in your absence as you were on holiday she may not have been able to give it any thought.
You have made the first move,so no-don't go chasing after people,that stuff gets up my nose too.Time for her to say something now.
its not all that important is it
Just be straight and forward and ask her if she still wants the night out
Why not mention it to her?

Some people get so rapped up in day to day life that some forget. Or she may have issues about being excepted etc.

Who could pass up going to a show? lol! For my sixteenth b day my mom took me to the theater and it was the best!

Good luck!

Fans should boycott going to baseball games because of high-paid players. Don't you know that y

paying for these guys salaries? With every $8 bud light you buy, with every $6 hot dog, etc. Paying $30 for the ticket is nothing. Once they got you in the ballpark, the average fan, forks out an additional $50-$100 per game, on food, drinks, alcohol, merchandise, etc. You are paying for these guys salaries. I would only go to a game in a small-market stadium, like the Marlins or Royals or D-Rays, where you can probably still find a $5 seat. But the problem is, once you're in there, you're in there for 3 plus hours. That's where they get you, they get to your wallets. Teams make a lot of money on attendance, no doubt, but they make 2-3 times that much on food, beer, and merch. Especially in cities like Boston, Chicago, LA, NY, Seattle, where tickets are expensive. Bottom line, don't complain about player's salaries if you are still going to games, because you are paying for their MTV Cribs, hummers, dvd players in the back seat, home theatre systems, etc, by going to the game

You're right, of course, but what are you going to do? Go without baseball and then all the athletes will just go into other sports. It's a rotten situation, yes, when teachers can't make enough to live on, but, really, it's going to take a social change larger than just boycotting baseball to change it.

Besides, it's the owners more than the players to blame. Neither group gives shucks about the fans, but the owners have been larcenous since the beginning. I don't mind the players being over paid (they could earn a little less) but I hate when they behave like fans are a necessary evil.

The demand for baseball in large markets is great that's how fans are drawn to the crowd even though tickets are more expensive. Report It

So einstien , how many DVDs do you rent a month? and how many movies do you attend each month? Do you buy any music, how bout the internet? yep thats right you are helping SOMEONE to get rich by having a internet provider.........Dude EVERYTHING costs money...so dont single out Baseball fans...at least they are spending their money in a Legal way and are not out betting on Dogs!!!!!
You are right that is why i go to very few games these days. last straw for me was when they expected me to pay for a $350 ticket to see a game as if they where doing me a favor.
If you don't like you don't have to go to the game. Just watch it on tv. Go cry somewhere else.

Go Red Sox, The highest priced tickets
Then you have to boycott the movies, televison, and music. They are paid more than baseball players. Reese Witherspoon is payed $30 million a movie!! You figure if she makes 2 movies a year, that is $60 million a year!! Would you say that she is one of the best actresses in the world? I wouldn't. A-Rod is the highest paid player in baseball and he does not get nearly that much. At least he is the best in the world at his profession.
Actually, if you want to have an impact, stop watching the games on TV.

The real money is in TV revenue from ad sales -- not stadium sales.

Additionally, teams share revenue, so player salaries aren't directly dictated by your going to a game anyway. As long as the Yankees are a huge draw, the Royals will benefit, regardless of the payroll disparity.

So, if you are upset about salaries you really have to boycott the game entirely, including TV. This is where the argument of "I refuse to pay to go to games" fails -- many of those fans still watch the games on TV, thus subsidizing "the machine" to a much greater degree.
I haven't been to a ballgame in about four years and I almost never go to the movies. You're absolutely right. I can wait for movies to come out on DVD that way a bunch of people can watch a movie for one price.
Oh shut up. Take your pinko commie rants somewhere else.
So what if we pay for there salaries? games are still fun to go to.

How was Saw 4 in terms of being ID'd?

I'm 18 years old, but I don't have a picture ID, only my health card and such, which won't be any good to the threatre, so I'm getting a buddy of mine who has his drivers license to buy me my ticket (which annoys me, but what can you do), and I was wondering will they ID me at the door? No one here knows the answer to this, but if you saw the movie, could you give me an idea of the security there?

I saw Jackass 2 a few months back and they ID'd us 3 times before the door, and we had to pay the guy tearing the tickets 20 bucks to get in.

I've got planned to start a fuss with the manager if they question me about having ID.

I'm 18. I look like I'm in my mid 20s, but I still get ID'd by 16 year olds all around the theatre. It annoys me soo much.

Anyways, let me know it was for you and what I can expect.

Thank you,

Mark

Depends on the movie theater you go to. Usually big chain movie theaters are much more strict about their ID policy. Even if you look 30 most of them will still ID you. Smaller local ones are usually easier to get into.

I'm 17 and also have no ID but I got someone else to buy the tickets and I didn't have any problems.

OMG!!! This can't be happening!?

K, so my mom bought me tickets to a My chemical romance show and A Panic at the disco show. BUT, the theatre that they both are at only allows 16 and up. But, they shows that I'm going to say all ages admitted. SO, does that mean that I can go? I will be totally devastated if I can't! They are my 2 favorite bands!!! Btw, I'm 14 and like a half. So, that do you think they are trying to say???

OMG!!! This can't be happening!?concert tickets

Woahhh! your mom loves you so!!!!!!!! my mom is afraid of MCR, she turns off my computer when she sees my wallpaper which is a really awexxxome pic of MCR and TBP... :(

I think that you'll be fine! I've heard of younger people at their concerts, but I'll tell you something.... Gerard does some stuff that are not for 10 year old kids to see, yet the things he does are fun.. the language is not very appropiated for a PG 13 audience neither, but what the heck!!!!!!!!! u don't get to see them everyday. Go to the show and enjoy it! xD

You'll be fine, don't worry

if its an all ages show they should so let you go
Both bands play all ages shows. I've taken my 11 year old niece to see both bands. I can't imagine why they wouldn't be, both bands have positive messages for their young fans.
You can call the venue to ask, but if the tickets say "all age admitted" you should be able to go.
If the show says all-ages, you can get in. If you want, you can call the venue (or have your mom do it) and ask just to be positive.

And why is this in Tattoos?
im sure u can!MCR concert i went...saw a kid like 11 years of age!No problem!!MCR RULES %26amp; SAVES LIVES...!!
well if the ticket say all ages admitted then that is what it means...even though the club only allows 16 and older, they can allow different ages for "special events" like the 2 you have tickets for...so go and enjoy...cause all ages admitted!!
it depends where you read it at. if it was on a website, it may just be a typo or error. if it says it on the schedule or a sign at the theater, it is probably correct. try calling p the theater it's at. they probably have the number in the phone book or on the ticket. hope this helped!
I'm jealous those are my 2 fave bands too!

If it said that all ages admitted on the scheduly thingy then u can get it
I think you can still go, but probably with someone over 16 or something. I am 13 and I went to a Panic concert, so I think you will be good. And no fair, you get to go to MyChem?!!? LUCKY. Are you seeing them with Billy Talent, cuz if so, LUCKY!! I love both bands...I want to see MCR so bad. Hey, who is PATD touring with now? I saw them with Gym Class Heroes, The Academy Is..., and The Hush Sound
okay so, u should be able to get in.... as long as the show is an all ages show... i would look it up again just to make sure!

hehe... LONG LIVE THE BLACK PARADE!

ew. panic at the disco...?
you can still go

they cant ask you for an i.d because 16 yr olds dont get i.d's yet
What do the tickets say?

If the tickets say it's a 16+ show, then thats what it is.

If the tickets say it's an all ages show, then that's what it is.

If in doubt call or Email the venue place and ask them.
if they give you trouble, just wear a lot of make up and tell them that you are 16
Me and my friend went to a 16+ concert and her sister was supposed to come but she ended up not. We just walked in behind some other people and acted as if we were together.

Why would Panic be 16+? It's not as if you're gonna be crushed in a mosh pit.

Who else thinks going to the movies nowadays is a ripoff?

I live in Texas, and going to see a movie at my local cinemark or amc is such a damn ripoff. Tickets are like 8.00 to go see a show after 6 pm. Personally, I think that no movie is worth paying 8 dolars to see. Lucky for me, if I just wait a month or so after it is released, I can go see it at the dollar theatre. And even better, there is a movie theatre not to far away that used to charge 2.50 to see a BRAND new movie, but I just went to go see a movie and they raised the price to 3.75. Man, i was pissed. Any thoughts?

Who else thinks going to the movies nowadays is a ripoff?performing art center

You pay 10 bucks for a ticket (and double than that when you had a date)

Another couple bucks for pop corn and soft drinks

And what did you get? 20 minutes of commercial, seat kickers, noisy teenager, ringing cell phone, crying kids inside theatre (despite R rated movies)...

yeah. it's a ripoff.

IF ITS A REAL GOOD MOVIE I BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THAN I WILL GO SEE IT, I SAW HALLOWEEN YESTERDAY %26amp; IT WAS WORTH THE $$$, I SAW WAR LAST WEEK %26amp; IT WASN'T, %26amp; IN MIAMI ITS $9.00 FOR A TICKET %26amp; THEY CLOSED THE DOLLAR MOVIE THEARTER, WHAT I REALLY HATE ARE THE CONCESSIONS! $20 FOR SOME POPCORN %26amp; SODAS IS RIDICOULUS!!!!!!
I totally agree w/ you. I wish there was a dollar theater near where I live.
You have my sympathy.
I agree, that's why I rarely go see a movie in the theater any more. I prefer to rent them or buy them myself. As for concessions, I might buy popcorn, but the rest is bought in a store and placed in my wife's big purse. Works great for those rare occasions.
